1975 Chevrolet Horton Ambulance
The fire company purchased in August of 1975 a Chevrolet Horton Type I “Model 400” ambulance. A federal grant of $7500 dollars was obtained toward the cost of the ambulance. There had been much discussion about this unit and the type of body that the fire company would approve. The company approved the first “box type” body in the fire company.
The ambulance would be equipped with all the modern medical equipment of the time.
The ambulance was delivered to Bel Air in December of 1975 and placed into service on January 12, 1976. This unit was traded in on the 1983 Ford Horton ambulance.
